Elzbieta Zawacka, also known as Agent Zo, was a truly remarkable individual.

A member of the Polish resistance movement, Zo travelled to London as an emissary of the Polish Home Army.

After being trained by the Special Operations Executive (SOE), Zo returned to Poland to continue her activities.

Zo took a leading role in the Warsaw Uprising, 1st of August – 2nd of October 1944. An incredibly heroic yet tragic event.

After the war, despite her heroism, Zo was persecuted by the communist authorities.

Clare Mulley will join us to tell us more about this fascinating woman’s story.

Clare is a historian who focuses on the female experience in the Second World War and is the author of several books including ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’, which has been optioned by Universal Studios.

In this year of Second World War 80th anniversaries, Wednesday the 2nd of October marks the end of the Warsaw Uprising and we are very fortunate to have Clare with us.

The Club would like to thank, ‘For Your Freedom and Ours” in helping to make this event possible.
